UC Book Club: 'Caleb's Crossing' By Geraldine Brooks

Join the University Community Book Club for Caleb's Crossing By Geraldine Brooks discussion on September 25th, 2013.

About the Book
In 1665, Caleb became the first Native American to graduate from Harvard College. A tale of love and faith, magic and adventure. Bethia Mayfield yearns after an education that is closed by her sex. At twelve, she encountered Caleb, the young son of a chieftain, and the two forge a tentative secret friendship that draws each into the alien world of the other. Caleb is in Cambridge, studying Latin and Greek among the colonial elite. Bethia finds herself indentured as a housekeeper and can closely observe Caleb's crossing of cultures.
