San Diego Humane Society Hopes to Find Homes for 500 Animals By Valentine’s Day!

The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA is holding its fourth annual Valentine’s Day-themed animal adoption promotion, “My Furry Valentine” to help raise awareness for pet adoption and to find homes for more animals. The organization hopes to find homes for 500 animals by Valentine’s Day. Several special adoption events and promotions are occurring now through February 14th, and there are puppies, dogs, kittens, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs available for adoption. It’s the perfect time to find your furry love at the San Diego Humane Society!

Animal shelters and rescue groups will unite to help the community find furry love for Valentine’s Day. Dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and small animals will be available for adoption and all guests will receive a free engraved heart name tag for their pet. A few participating rescue groups include, Puggles & Pitties, Maltese Rescue of California, Last Chance at Life, Love Your Feral Felines, Ferdinand’s Famila, Lionel’s Legacy and Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego.

Serving San Diego County since 1880, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA’s scope of social responsibility goes beyond adopting animals. The Humane Society offers San Diegans a wide range of programs and services that strengthen the human-animal bond, prevent cruelty/neglect, provide medical care and educate the community on the humane treatment of animals.

As one of San Diego’s oldest nonprofit organizations, the Humane Society has campuses located in San Diego and Oceanside, as well as an adoption center inside the El Cajon Petco store. The San Diego Humane Society is supported solely through contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Muttique retail store and small fees for services. “This unique promotion will help to bring more awareness to the importance of animal adoption and ultimately help more animals find homes,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. “In addition to getting more animals into homes, we want to provide people with resources to enhance their relationship with their pet. Whether it’s through training support, or educational pet care information, we’re here for pet owners throughout the entire life span of their pet.”

Dates and times of events are subject to change without notice. Always check the event organizer's website for the most updated schedule before attending.
