About the Film:
In the midst of World War II, Hollywood cranked out a number of films meant to depict the events overseas and stir up patriotism at home. Focusing on the experience of women in the Pacific theater war effort, Director Mark Sandrich's "So Proudly We Hail" features a formidable cast including: Paulette Goddard, Veronica Lake, Claudette Colbert, Sonny Tufts, and George Reeves.
Before the film, producer and director Gregory Cooke will discuss his documentary Invisible Warriors: African American Women in WW II. Currently in production, this project examines the contributions of African American women to the wartime, home-front industries and their struggle for equality in the process.
