For those who live or work in the North Park area of San Diego it is no surprise that Forbes Magazine identified North Park as one of “America's Hippest Hipster Neighborhoods.”

And it just keeps getting better—a lovely combination of old and young, diversity, cool restaurants, microbreweries and lots of art making.

There are the artists with galleries on Ray Street and spotted along University, 30th Street, and around. Yet most art making is done in little corners of the neighborhood, in homes or studios with doors closed. Many artists have day jobs and art making is relegated to late nights or weekends. Some make art for a living, but unless you know them well, you may not know what is being created around the corner.

The Artists of North Park Show was started four years ago by painter and Expressive Arts Therapist, Tish McAllise Sjoberg, after the opening of her Expressive Arts Studio in the T-32 area of North Park.

Sjoberg explains, “I wanted to meet and showcase the artists in the neighborhood and for the neighborhood to celebrate the art making that is happening in our backyard. Ultimately, bring people together and create community. The first year of the show something unexpected happened, artists met each other and friendships and collaborations were born. That was a great unplanned surprise!”

The show is now in its forth year and growing. The work in the Artists of North Park Show is by both trained and untrained artists, for some, this is their first time being shown.

Come participate in the hippest new area of North Park for the T-32 (Thorn and 32nd) 3rd Saturday Stroll. Chance for you to make art, too!

Show Opening is Saturday, June 21, 2014, 4:00-8:00 p.m., we will also include performance of spoken word and music. Opening will be followed by A Farwell concert and CD release by North Park musician Marc Delgado who is moving at the end of June. ($10)
