THIS EVENT IS IN THE PAST!
In this fast-paced workshop, participants will dive into the three aspects of life as a working poet: the practice of writing, editing, and revising poems; the performance of poetry reading, and the best methods for publication of original work.
Participants will draft new poems, offer comments on each other's work, discuss what makes poetry readings successful, and draft query letters. Participants should bring a typed, "finished" poem of their own, a poem by another writer that they absolutely adore, writing materials, and their creative spirit.
Jennifer Minniti-Shippey is the Managing Editor of Poetry International literary journal, and a professor at San Diego State University. Her work has appeared in Tar River Poetry, Cider Press Review, Jackson Hole Review, In Posse Review, San Diego Poetry Annual, and the San Diego Union-Tribune, among others.
Advanced registration is required. To register, please call 760-602-2400 ext. 8149 and leave a message with your name and phone number.
This workshop is made possible by the Friends of the Carlsbad Library.
