Bria Skonberg

An emerging powerhouse on the New York jazz scene, Bria Skonberg’s unique ability to reimagine standards through a modern prism has her “poised to be one of the most versatile and imposing musicians of her generation,” says The Wall Street Journal.

Skonberg is a singer/songwriter/trumpeter with an adventurous music style rooted in New Orleans jazz and blues, world percussion, soul, and cabaret. Noted as a millennial “shaking up the jazz world,” according to Vanity Fair, in 2013 she earned a Jazz Journalists’ Association nomination for “Up and Coming Jazz Artist of The Year” and is included in DownBeat Magazine’s Rising Star Critics’ Poll for 2013/2014.

To date, Skonberg has performed at some 100 festivals worldwide. She is the co-founder of the New York Hot Jazz Camp and New York Hot Jazz Festival. Further accolades include Best Vocal and Best Trumpet awards from Hot House Jazz Magazine (2014-15). She has recently been honored with a New York Bistro award for “Outstanding Jazz Artist.” In 2017, Skonberg was the JUNO winner for the category of Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. The JUNO awards are presented annually by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), The JUNO Award is Canada’s premier awards show and the Canadian music industry’s most prestigious recognition for excellence in recorded music.
