Listening to the voices inside ourselves can help us create our own imaginative worlds. “Solus” translates to mean alone, sole, or uninhabited in Latin. In old Irish it translates as clear or lucid. Voices are those interior dialogues we all have; those quiet and not so quiet voices in our heads that are, sometimes, all we are left with. Artists featured at Thumbprint Gallery’s upcoming show “Solus Voices,” Pamela Jaeger, Brian Dombrowsky, and Paul Brogden, will be embodying this theme through their creative works. The opening reception will be held at Thumbprint Gallery on Saturday, February 9.
About the Artists:
Pamela Jaeger finds inspiration from her childhood memories, dreams and journal. Her thoughts and ideas lead her to create whimsical places and wild characters. Her experience studying fashion and beauty traditions of the past gives her an eye for beautifully intense clothing designs and outfits in her works. She is a prolific artist with artworks done for Universal Pictures, Hollywood Reporter, Natural Health Magazine and many more publishers.
Brian Dombrowsky works with a wide variety of audiences in mind. He creates art that can be viewed on many different levels while keeping the aesthetic visually pleasing. Some of his artworks are both 2-D and 3-D that use his experience as a commercial sculptor. His works range from sublime landscapes to some truly bizarre Pop Art.
Paul Brogden is a natural born artist whose Grandfather was an oil painter. He grew his talent from a young age taking lessons from another artist Ann Tripp. Later in life, a car accident left him with little to no feeling in his hands and fingers. It took him time to recover, and regain some of his lost ability. He paints in a pop surrealistic style and creates unique caricatures. He lives in San Diego and is internationally known with works in the United States and Europe.
“Solus Voices” runs from February 9 to March 3 at Thumbprint Gallery in La Jolla. The opening reception on February 9 will begin at 5 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. Complimentary beverages will be served. All ages are welcome to attend.
