An exhibition of the pictographic maps and other work of the iconic California artist, writer and cartographer, Jacinto "Jo" Mora. Included are example of all the "cartes"---as Jo called his whimsical maps---done by Mora between 1927 and 1945.
Among these is his well-known map of San Diego done in 1928 on commission from George Marston to celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of Marston's Department Store. Additionally, the Jo Mora Trust has loaned sculptures and other artifacts to further enhance the exhibition.
The exhibition will run from April to December, 2013 and admission will be free. (NOTE: in addition to the open times show, the Museum is also open on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month 11 am to 4 pm and by Appointment for groups of 10 or more.)
