Join us at the Lux Art Institute, where San Francisco painter James Chronister employs a labor-intensive, pointillist technique to achieve strikingly nuanced tones and depth in his paintings.

Armed with a tiny brush and guided by projected grids, he meticulously applies dots of black pigment onto a white ground until the images of tranquil forest landscapes and palatial interiors magically emerge, reaching near-photographic clarity.

During his residency at Lux, he'll be working on a 40"x40" pointillist painting based on an image of a British private residence.
