SRT is pleased to announce the final show of our 35th season, Neil Simon’s 1972 comedy, "The Sunshine Boys". Well-known local actors Eric Poppick and Phil Johnson team to play Al Lewis and Willy Clark, the estranged vaudevillian partners who once styled themselves Lewis & Clark. Reunited for a single lucrative televised performance, the two spark again, with hilarious consequences. The production is directed by Ruff Yeager, who directed both actors in "The Man Who Came To Dinner" at the Coronado Playhouse in 2012. The Sunshine Boys is Phil Johnson’s SRT debut.
Two old vaudevillian comedians are invited by CBS to revive their act for posterity. The only problem is that they hate each other. Ruff Yeager returns to SRT to direct two of San Diego’s favorite comedic actors, Phil Johnson and Eric Poppick, in the grudging reunion, thus ending our season as it began, by playing an “Odd Couple.”
The Sunshine Boys plays May 31 – Jun. 29, 2014 on Fridays & Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2 PM
