"All That Glitters: The Splendor & Science of Gems & Minerals" opens May 15, 2010 at the San Diego Natural History Museum.

"All That Glitters: The Splendor & Science of Gems & Minerals takes you beyond the “bling” to see gems as very rare and ancient by-products of the forces that have created our landscape, including right here in San Diego County. It is designed to entice adults and children through beauty, science and fun. Through displays and interactive experiences, you will learn about the Earth processes that create gems and minerals.

View stunning objects on loan from private collectors and major U.S. institutions including the American Museum of Natural History, Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Harvard University Mineralogical Museum, Newark Museum, and the Smithsonian.

Tickets: $10–$16 all included in general admission. Also included with admission are all other exhibitions and films at the Museum.

Museum Hours: Daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
