"Coronado: We Remember," illustrating stories of early naval aviators, of local polo teams, and the Duchess of Windsor, will be on display this year at the Coronado Historical Association's Museum of History and Art through June 2, 2011.
Have you ever wondered who some of the streets in Coronado were named after? How the first airplane landing gear was developed? Why Navy SEALs are called “frogmen”? Why did Coronado need to contract “sand managers” in the 1930s?
Through historical vignettes, photographs, items from the museum’s collections and oral history interviews, these questions and many more will bring together stories that have not yet been told about Coronado's unique history.
Location: Coronado Historical Association, Museum of History and Art, 1100 Orange Ave., Coronado, CA 92118. Google Maps
