Description

Drop-off your business clothing at any Mission Federal Credit Union Branch or Time Warner Cable location July 1-31, 2009

Throughout July, Time Warner Cable presents the eighth annual Clothes 4 A Cause business clothing drive. People are encouraged to donate ready-to-wear business outfits to benefit individuals enrolled in job training programs with the Alpha Project.

Through these programs, men and women receive career development, encouragement, and clothing suitable to wear in a business environment, allowing them an opportunity to become self-sufficient professionals. While many offices are now business casual, it is always important to make a fantastic first impression.

The campaign is in its eighth year, and since its inception, more than 9,000 complete business outfits have been donated from generous San Diegans for men and women making a fresh start in life. Last year was a record year for the Clothes 4 A Cause program; the public donated 2,200 outfits in 2008.

Donations are accepted at any of the 22 San Diego County Mission Federal Credit Union locations or Time Warner Cable’s San Diego, Carlsbad, Clairemont, Del Mar and Coronado offices. For each complete business outfit donated, donors will receive a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree to Westfield Shopping Malls, courtesy of Mission Federal Credit Union. Donors also have a chance to win prize packages from sponsors. For a complete list of drop-off locations and details on prizes, please visit http://www.twcsd.com, and click on “In the Community.”

“Time Warner Cable is proud to put on this business suit clothing drive, which is the largest of its kind in San Diego County,” says Marc Farrar, vice president of public affairs, Time Warner Cable San Diego. “We feel that it is so important to support the Alpha Project in its employment programs.”

Because of Mission Federal Credit Union’s branch locations throughout San Diego County, their participation enables more residents to get involved in the effort. “Mission Federal is thrilled to provide donation locations that are convenient for our members and the public at large,” said Tricia Link, vice president communications and community relations, Mission Federal Credit Union. “With the soaring unemployment rates in San Diego County, it’s imperative that Alpha Project program participants are provided more support to help them obtain their first job as they go along the road to recovery.”

Alpha Project has been a beneficiary of the Clothes 4 A Cause initiative for five years now. Alpha Project strives to end homelessness for its clients and provides an alternate direction into a life of responsibility and dignity. “It is businesses like Mission Federal Credit Union and Time Warner Cable, as well as the public at large who allow us to provide the best possible services to those in need,” said Bob McElroy, president and CEO, Alpha Project.
