AAZK San Diego is proud to host our 5th Annual Photo Contest “Capturing Conservation.”

This is a digital photography contest highlighting photography’s vital role in capturing conservation issues worldwide. Photographs will be judged on the basis of content, overall impact and artistic quality. Each photograph entry must tell a “good news” story about conservation and the environment.

• All entries must be received online June 1, 2014 – July 31, 2014. Late entries will be accepted through the month of August but will result in a late fee of $15 per image plus processing fees.
• Each photographic entry needs to be titled and accompanied with 2-5 sentences describing the environmental issue raised.
• Entries must be submitted in JPEG format, no larger than 800 x 600 pixels. The original file must be larger for publication purposes. Winning contestants will be contacted if needed.
• Entries will be judged by: Carmi Penny-Director of CHS and Curator of Mammals at San Diego Zoo Global, Ann Knutson-President of AAZK San Diego, and Dwight Scott-Director of the San Diego Zoo.
• Judges will select the Best In Show winner.
• The People’s Choice winner will be selected by the highest number of “likes” on our Facebook page at
• The prizes include: Best In Show – $75 and People’s Choice – $75
• Winning photographs will be announced September 15, 2014.
