Distinction Gallery Presents: “Self Preservation,” a two artist event, featuring the works of Andy Haynes and Jacub Gagnon that runs from April 10th to May 1st.

Distinction Gallery continues its superb tradition of exposing the most brilliant artists to the Southern California region by featuring a two artist showing entitled, "Self Preservation." The artists have created a show of paintings centered on the theme of solidarity, which are executed through incredible detail. A highly involved exploration into the fantastical, “Self Preservation” ignites emotion with vivid subject matter.

The opening reception with the artists and live music will be held on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 from 6-11 PM. Wine and Karl Strauss beer will be provided for those over 21. We hope you will join us in celebrating this extraordinary showing.

Artist Bios:

Andy Haynes:
Primarily a figurative oil painter, Andy Haynes’ work is his outlet for releasing internal emotions and energy. Haynes’ work focuses thematically around contemporary morality, both in its beautiful and often dark moments. Through the use of ambiguous narrative and subconscious symbolism, Andy lays out an honest map of which he strives for the viewer use as a guideline and find a relation to. His paintings take the viewer on a journey of life and touch on the experiences that create it. By exploring human nature, contrasting techniques of oil painting and art history, Andy strives to continue expanding his vision and enriching others. Andy lives in Los Angeles with his wife Megan and their cat Rainbow.

Jacub Gagnon:
Currently practicing as an artist in Toronto, Jacub Gagnon creates images that question and entertain the discussion of connectivity. Within the stage that is his canvas, Jacub presents animals and objects in bizarre manners, placing them in scenes that oppose practicality. Jacub’s paintings become a space in which nature becomes unnatural, bordering surreal.
