Character design is critical to the plausibility of alternate realities in science fiction movies. Artists are able to bridge the gap between fantasy and reality by creating mythical anatomy, believable surface detail and personality through the art of creature design. In numerous films and television series’ Neville Page brings to life bio-mechanical killers, virtual worlds and alien monsters that wreak havoc on the earth.
"The Beauty in the Beast: Crafting Creatures" by Neville Page will display the original designs from blockbuster films he has worked on such as "Prometheus" (2012) and "Super 8" (2011), and the television series "Falling Skies" (2011-2012), among others, showcasing Page’s use of traditional media as well as digital tools such as Photoshop and Zbrush to create fantastic creatures and exotic characters.
The exhibition features Page’s design progressions, from early pencil sketches, to more developed digital concepts and small 3D models. Neville Page is one of the most recognizable artists in the entertainment industry and his iconic designs are known worldwide.
"The Beauty in the Beast" will open on October 26 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. in conjunction with OMA’s Halloween bash, Art After Dark: Come As You Aren’t and will run though January 6, 2013.
Other Important Dates: Exhibition Tour and Live Demonstration of Creature Development on Saturday, January 5, 2013, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. And the Closing Reception on Saturday, January 5, 2013, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
