The group includes 8 “sensei” (10-year graduates) and 10 other advanced painters, along with noted San Diego teacher and artist Takashi Ijichi. To capture the essence of things and beings in the natural world, these artists use energetic brush strokes in Asian ink and watercolors. On delicate rice paper or silk, their works show a range of subjects, both in Zen-like immediacy of “spontaneous” style and virtuoso linework and coloring of “fine-line” style.
The artists’ reception is at the MTRP Visitor Centers from 1-4 pm on Sunday June 2, 2013. Several FOT members will be demonstrating painting for a half hour each, at 1, 2, and 3 o'clock. All FOT members are invited to attend. 19 FOT artists are participating in the juried group show. To see a poster, click FriendsofTakaSumi-eExhibition.pdf
