Cygnet Theatre stages the San Diego premiere of "On the Twentieth Century," a show that's often described as "part operetta, part farce and part screwball comedy."

The show, set in the 1920s, involves a trip on the Twentieth Century Limited train and a behind-the-scenes relationship between Lily, a temperamental actress and Oscar, a bankrupt theater producer. The Broadway production opened in 1978, and it was revived in 2015 featuring Kristin Chenoweth.

Cygnet's fully-staged production features a cast of 15, including Sean Murray, Melissa Fernandes, Bryan Banville and Eileen Bowman, plus a live orchestra.
