'Unearned Intimacies' Art Exhibition

The San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery is pleased to present "Unearned Intimacies", featuring three Southern California artists showing in photography, drawing and mixed media. The artists, working in various art forms and from far different perspectives, create new ways of looking at how we live and view our private lives and how those moments can be rendered public, with or without our knowledge.

There will be an opening reception with an artist panel talk on October 14, 2010 from 4:30 p.m to 7 p.m. The exhibition will be on view from then until November 9, 2010.

Featured Artists:
Michele Iversen uses chance encounters with strangers, viewed unwittingly in the privacy of their homes, to reveal glimpses of the hidden, often enigmatic, way we experience the physicality and emotionalism of the actual world.

David Fobes creates cut-up designs, computer generated shapes and bright color compositions that portray futuristic homes and disembodied living units. He invents new ways of expressing post-minimalist architecture with carefully constructed space-age habitats devoid of human presence.

K.V. Tomney's drawings act as architectural lenses peering into our personal cultural landscape, making visible what we see there and what it is presumed we want to see.

The full potential power of art to express our sentiments requires a truthfulness and authenticity that comes from living isolated within ourselves. The interior of our lives is reflected outward from the realms where we dwell and create our personal history. These private spaces allow us to reason, invent, remember and dream.

The gallery is open Monday - Thursday from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. Closed Weekends.
