Carolyn Rogers Flood

Carolyn Rogers Flood

Carolyn was born in Rochester, New York to Beatrice and John H. Rogers. She was the second of four children. Carolyn graduated from Irondequoit High School and went to Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA. After moving to Torrance, CA, she met R. Robert Flood and married him in 1964. Married for 44 years, Carolyn and Bob took time for special family activities, like exploring new places together, and were very devoted to their daughter Lisa during her short life. In 1967, Carolyn and Bob moved to a beautiful home overlooking Mission Bay, and a year later, Carolyn received a Masters degree from International University.

Carolyn brought joy and a love of learning to countless children over her more than 30 years as a respected and admired teacher in Rancho Santa Fe. She taught kindergarten through eighth grade and was honored as County Teacher of the Year. Along with her family, friends, teaching and traveling, music and crafts were also enjoyable activities throughout her life. Carolyn sang, played the piano and hand bells, and often had several craft projects going on at once.

KPBS thanks Carolyn Rogers Flood and her family for their generous gift.
