Eric Bidwell
Eric Bidwell
The race for San Diego mayor has its leading candidates and its long-shots.  It's not outrageous to call Eric Bidwell a member of the latter group.  Eric is one of five candidates running this year.   He's never held elected office.  He's 25 years old, and he has a certain look and approach to his candidacy that makes him definitely out of the mainstream.  He wears his hair in long dreadlocks and his website is revolutionarymayor.com.  In fact, he wanted the city clerk to describe him on the ballot as a "full-time revolutionary," but he settled for calling himself an entrepreneur.

Steve Francis
Steve Francis
Steve Francis has run for San Diego mayor before. He came in third, behind Sanders and Councilwoman Donna Frye, in the race to replace Dick Murphy. Murphy resigned under harsh criticism of his handling of the pension deficit. Mr. Francis ran as a fiscal conservative in 2005 who said he wanted to run government like a business. He has spent million of dollars of his own money on getting his name out to voters. That was true three years ago, and it is true this year.

Jim Hart
Jim Hart
Unless you're keeping close track of San Diego electoral politics, you probably don't know who Jim Hart is. He's never held elected office. Mr. Hart lists his occupation as "test director" and he has a degree in hazardous materials management from UCSD extension. Mr. Hart is focusing on issues of growth and the environment in his candidacy. He's a long shot, in this race for mayor. But he is a candidate and he thinks you should vote for him. So he joins me now in studio.

Morrow
Floyd Morrow
Floyd Morrow is a Democrat and a businessman who served on the San Diego City Council from 1965 to 1978. He dates from the time when council members were elected at large, so he can say he was elected in a city-wide vote. Morrow has run for mayor twice before in the 1980’s...both times unsuccessfully. Today, he is 75 years old. Morrow entered the race because he thought the field needed a Democrat.
