Facts about Meth Use in San Diego County ►In 2006, 55 percent of male and 62 percent of female arrestees reported they had used meth at least once in their lifetime, making it the most commonly tried illicit drug after marijuana by San Diego County arrestees.
►Of those arrestees, 31 percent of males and 43 percent of females reported meth use in the past 30 days.
►Nearly three-quarters (72%) of these individuals reported their primary mode of administration was smoking meth, which has been shown to be associated with more timely toxic effects.
►Arrestees between the ages of 25 to 39 were more likely to test positive for meth then arrestees in other age groups.
►Between 2005 and 2006, the percent of both male and female arrestees who tested positive for meth decreased. For males the decrease of 8 percent (from 44% in 2005 to 36% in 2006) represented the second decrease since 2000.
