San Diego’s fire chief resigns

San Diego's Fire chief is stepping down. Jeff Bowman submitted his letter of resignation this morning. He says he's leaving the department because San Diego's ongoing fiscal problems will not allow the city to properly finance the fire department. Bowman has been fire chief since 2002.

A spokesman for Mayor Jerry Sanders say the city's top politician is sorry to see Bowman leave. Spokesman Fred Sainz says Bowman's departure is a big loss.
