SPECIAL COVERAGE: Living With Wildfires: San Diego Firestorm 10 Years Later

Public invited to comment on waterfront development plan

The public gets a chance tonight to comment on a major downtown San Diego waterfront development plan. The Manchester Group wants to replace the Navy Broadway Complex overlooking San Diego Bay, with high rise hotels and offices. The director of the Center City Development Corporation Wayne Raffesberger, says tonight 's workshop is the beginning of a four month process for public comment.

Raffesberger: Because the Navy is on a very tight time line while we're beginning the public review, the navy will be in negotiations with the Manchester group for the master lease.. involves a lot of acreage and frankly a lot of money.

More than a dozen community groups have formed the Broadway Complex Coalition to fight for more open space on the site. The meeting is at 5:30 at the Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego.
