Most-Qualified California Teachers Near Retirement

Tom Fudge: California has spent about 10 years trying to reduce class sizes in public schools and improve the qualifications of teachers. That two-pronged approach has been a major challenge, as it seeks to increase the quantity and quality of teachers in the state.

A research and lobbying group in Santa Cruz has been following the developments in this story by issuing reports every year on student achievement and the teaching profession. The group is called the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning. And its latest report has some good news and bad news.
