400 illegal immigrants arrested in San Diego County

Federal immigration agents arrested more than 400 illegal immigrants in San Diego
County during a six day period last month.

Federal officials say they were targeting illegal immigrants with criminal records. But hundreds who do not have criminal pasts were arrested. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lauren Mack says agents spent hours doing background work to locate the more than 5000 illegal immigrants with criminal histories in San Diego. She says when agents went out into the field, they found very few of them- but arrested hundreds of other people in the

Many times the addresses where we're looking for targeted individuals happen to be in the heart of immigrant communities. And when we're in those environments, we locate other people and arrest them if they're here in violation of immigration laws as well.

Mack says the operation was a success, though the majority of the people agents targeted were not arrested.

This is wrong. Why would they allow people to pass entry and claim asylum and who should be blamed for this? We should beef up controls on immigration and get much tougher about sending people straight home if without the proper documents upon entering a specific country. Cutting our border controls will leave the detection of illegal immigrants up to the general public.

The best solution would be to arrest anyone and any business hiring illegals in the first place - get to root of the problem. You could save a whole lot of money wasted on re-inforcing border fences and patrols and the loss of tax revenue not provided by people who are "not here." However, since we should all know good and well by now that no politician Democrat or Republican is going to do anything about this problem I'll take any method of deportation that is available within the law.

If our president wants to create jobs, start right here. Stop hiring people that work for peanuts and pay an American an honest day's wage. Support American business staying in America and making more products here. We are killing the middle class and once that goes we all might as well be living in Mexico.
