A musical version of Doctor Zhivago opens at the La Jolla Playhouse

The romantic, epic story of Dr. Yuri Zhivago began as a novel, became a famous film in the 1960's, and now comes to the La Jolla Playhouse's stage as a Broadway-bound musical. Guest host Alison St. John talks with Michael Weller and Lucy Simon, two of the creative forces behind Zhivago.

Zhivago opens at the La Jolla Playhouse tonight and runs through June 25th.

Guests:

  • Michael Weller (left) has written for the stage, film and television. He wrote the book for Zhivago.
  • Lucy Simon made her Broadway debut in 1991 as the composer of The Secret Garden. She began her professional career at the age of 16 with her sister Carly as one of The Simon Sisters. She composed the music for Zhivago.
