Cinema Junkie by Beth Accomando

Early on in their careers Chinese directors Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou learned how to deal with government censors. Now they must cope with a changing film industry where new marketplace pressures are proving almost as tricky to deal with as censors. KPBS film critic Beth Accomando speaks with Chen Kaige about the challenges of bringing his latest film, The Promise (opened May 5 at Landmark's Hillcrest and La Jolla Village Theaters) to the screen.
