The local chapter of the American Red Cross covers 10,000 square miles from San Diego to Imperial Counties. The charity is charged with providing emergency help to an estimated 3.3 million people in this area. Like the national organization, San Diego's chapter of the Red Cross has had its share of ups and downs. KPBS Morning News Anchor Dwane Brown talked about the organizations future with its new Chief Executive Officer Jeff Wiemann.
