Salton Sea Celebrates 100 Years

Visitors and residents of Imperial County are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Salton Sea this weekend. An open house includes field tours and pontoon boat rides. But whether the Salton Sea survives another 100 years is uncertain. KPBS Reporter Ed Joyce has more.

Civil Rights Group Files Lawsuit Against Escondido

A consortium of human rights organizations and attorneys has banded together to fight Escondido’s recent housing ordinance, which penalizes landlords who rent to illegal immigrants. Reporter Rebecca Tolin talks with the plaintiff’s attorney about the lawsuit, and request for injunction, to prevent the ordinance from going into effect November 17th.

Democratic Gains; Donald Rumsfeld; Airport

It was a big week in U.S. politics. The Democrats siezed control of the House and Senate which was followed by the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. And voters decided which proposition would be implemented statewide. Today, the editors discuss the far reaching ramifications of this week's political upheaval.
