People take out home loans for all kinds of reasons: to buy a home in the first place, or to get some needed cash for home improvements or college educations, or just for everyday living. Tapping into a home’s equity can be wise and safe. But too often these days, the borrower runs into predatory or abusive mortgage lending which can lead to financial disaster.
