A San Diego Republican who's shown little interest in seeking higher office during his 26 years in Congress is positioning himself for a presidential bid.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Alpine) 52nd District: As I’m finishing my final two years as chairman of the Armed Services Committee and to serve you, I’m also going to be preparing to run for president of the United States in 2008.

Congressman Duncan Hunter, who is up for reelection this year, has served East County since 1980. As the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a conservative Republican, he is a strong supporter of the war in Iraq. Amita Sharma talks with KPBS reporter Ed Joyce about the story.
