Novelist Lisa Teasley discusses race and California fiction

Heat Signature is the name of a new novel by Lisa Teasley. As its name suggests, it is currently a hot item. It’s received glowing reviews from the San Francisco Chronicle and the Washington Post, to name just two.
The story begins with a 31 year old man named Sam Brown. Sam’s life is dominated by the memory of his mother, who was raped and murdered when Sam was a teenager. In the book, Sam is follows a path that takes him across the California landscape and into the arms of various women. And, eventually, toward a confrontation with his mother’s murderer, who has just been released from prison.
