Free wireless Internet is the latest thing. Many cities see it as a way to bridge the digital divide and give their communities a leg up in the economic development game. The list of cities that have either provided free wireless service, or plan to, include San Francisco, Philadelphia and Portland, Oregon. Next Month, free wi-fi is coming to central Escondido.
