Hunter Chides Dems for Provision That Troops Wait to Engage

San Diego Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter sharply criticized Democratic leaders over the Iraq war spending bill. The bill will be voted on later Wednesday in Washington. Matt Laslo reports from Capitol Hill.

Hunter doesn’t like a provision in the bill that requires US troops to wait 15 days before engaging enemy forces in Iraq.

Hunter : In this age of terror, where time is of the essence -- where an hour is important, a day, and a week is important. To have a 15-day waiting period before an American unit can move against the enemy, is an extraordinary problem.

The war bill allows the president to waive the waiting period. Democrats want to ensure troops are combat ready. Hunter also called for the resignation of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid because Reid said the “war is lost.”
