Tom Fudge: In 1912, two American icons faced each other on the football field in a college game between Army and the Carlisle Indian School. The two were named Dwight Eisenhower who played for Army, and Jim Thorpe who played for Carlisle. Lars Anderson, a staff writer for Sports Illustrated , has written a book about this historic game. The game also involved the great coach, Pop Warner, who led Carlisle. The book is called Carlisle vs. Army: Jim Thorpe, Dwight Eisenhower, Pop Warner and the Forgotten Story of Football's Greatest Battle .
