Red Flag Waring Issued for San Diego County

Extra firefighters from the state are in San Diego County in anticipation of another major fire storm. A Red flag warning is in effect for Southern California for the next 24 hours. KPBS Reporter Dwane Brown has more.

Cal Fire Chief Steve Howe says that three air tankers in Ramona and three in Hemet are ready to respond.  A five-engine strike team from central California is also in the county for the next several weeks.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 6 p.m. A Red flag alert is up through New Years day meaning a high risk for wild fire. Authorities will be keeping a close eye on the mountain and valley areas burned during the October fire storm.

Strong wind gusts of 55 mph are expected at times in the mountain and valley areas thru tomorrow afternoon.
