How to Avoid Identity Theft

Tom Fudge: The information age has its upside and its downside. A part of the downside is identity theft. Easy access to information and credit has been a boon to people who seek to commit fraud. Millions of Americans have had their identities stolen by thieves, including me.

A few years ago, the San Diego County district attorney's office created the CATCH team to go after high-tech criminals. And now at least half of the work CATCH targets is identity theft. CATCH, by the way, stands for the Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech response team.
