Embedded Local Journalist Reports from Kuwait: Week 6

Tom Fudge: Yesterday was a particularly deadly day for American forces in Iraq. At least 25 American troops were reportedly killed. A dozen died in a helicopter accident. Five Americans died in a daring and bizarre attack. Several Iraqi insurgents got into a guarded compound by impersonating U.S. troops, wearing what looked like authentic American uniforms. Once inside, they began firing. They later escaped in their vehicles.

For two months, Tony Perry of the Los Angeles Times has been covering Camp Pendleton based marines, stationed in Iraq’s Sunni Triangle. He’s coming home to San Diego at the end of this week. And he joins me now for one more report to These Days listeners.
