More Pendleton Marines Under Investigation for War Crimes

Military investigators have confirmed that Camp Pendleton Marines are being investigated for allegedly murdering insurgents captured during combat in 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq.

It's the third time in little more than a year that servicemen from Pendleton have been accused of high-profile war atrocities. No other Marine installation is connected to as many war-crime investigations.

The latest allegations focus on up to 10 members of the 3rd Platoon, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion,1st Marine Regiment. The Marines are accused of killing eight unarmed prisoners Nov. 10 or 11, 2004.

The Union Tribune reports Naval Criminal Investigative Service apparently launched its investigation last year after former Marine Cpl. Ryan Weemer disclosed the Fallujah killings. Weemer was a member of the 3rd Platoon at the time of the incident.
