July 4th means picnics, fireworks, and the final day of the San Diego County Fair . As KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg tells us, the Fair was all about food.
The theme of the San Diego County Fair was a Salute to Heroes. Well in my book, any one who ate one of the Fair's Krispy Kreme chicken sandwiches deserved a salute. It's a filet of fried chicken set in two raspberry-filled glazed donuts. It comes with a side of honey. Joel Carter decided to try one.
Carter: That's very sweet. It's got fruit filling, too. Oh no, that's ahhh, yuk."
Carter gave it to his son to polish off.
Carter: Never again, I'm done, that's it. Now it's time for rattlesnake chili is next, we're on our way.
All told, more than 1.2 million people ate their way through this year's County Fair.
