Feinstein Wants Border Agents' Sentences Reduced

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein wants to see the sentences for two border patrol agents reduced. The pair was convicted of covering up their roles in the shooting of a drug smuggler. Jodi Breisler reports from Capitol Hill.

Feinstein called a Senate hearing to look at the circumstances surrounding the convictions of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. The two were convicted for shooting a drug smuggler in the behind and then covering it up. They've been sentenced for over 10 years. Feinstein says it inspires congressional action.

Feinstein: I'm one that believes this sentence is disproportionate. Now what we can do about that remains another subject.

At the hearing, San Diego's Duncan Hunter suggested a congressional pardon. While it doesn't currently exist, he says some lawyers say it's a possibility. Feinstein wants to take another look at the sentencing guidelines Congress has passed. Their case is currently being appealed.
