Tom Fudge: You probably have never heard of Petey Green. But he was a star in the '60s in the Washington D.C. area. He was an ex-con and a black DJ. His calls for calm, following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., are credited with helping to keep the peace in Washington. Aside from that, Green was known as a highly energetic and outrageous performer.

The story of Green is the basis for a new film starring Don Cheadle. The movie is called Talk to Me , and it's directed by Kasi Lemmons. KPBS film critic Beth Accomando had a chat with Lemmons about the movie, and now Beth will have a chat with us.
