A financial fraud trial involving executives at a well-known San Diego high tech firm is nearing a final verdict. Three top Peregrine Systems executives and the company's outside auditor are up on federal criminal charges of conspiracy and fraud.

In closing arguments, the defense accused the U.S. Attorneys handling the case of bad faith in their pre-trial debriefing of their main witness, Former Chairman and CEO Stephen Gardner. (The prosecution took no notes, depriving the defense of discovery.)
