Alison St John (Guest Host): That's the unnerving sound of a dog fight caught on a video that was subsequently confiscated by San Diego County's department of Animal services.

Dog fighting is a brutal blood sport that is completely outlawed in America. However, there is evidence to suggest it is rampant in some urban and rural areas.

It is such a hidden, underground activity that those not involved in the culture are virtually unaware of its existence. But the indictment of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick on multiple charges related to dog fighting has put the vicious sport in the spotlight. Grisly details are emerging of the cruelty and abuse involved in the clandestine culture, in which dogs are trained to tear each other apart in long and bloody battles, as their owners cheer them on.
