Singer-songwriter Cat Power, whose real name is Chan Marshall, is the first woman to win the Shortlist Music Prize. She beat out finalists as legendary as Tom Waits and as quirky as Regina Spektor. W

Alison St John (Guest Host): It's a story of personal redemption. Her recording label had to cancel the tour for her latest album because of her depression, alcohol and drug abuse problems. But now Chan Marshall, or Cat Power (pictured), as she's known, is the first woman to win the Shortlist Music Prize.
