Mission Beach was shocked by a brutal crime last October. A group of armed men entered an apartment and raped two USD students.

Paul Nestor lives nearby and he remembers that night well. Nestor and his neighbors have been rallying for the security cameras ever since.

Now that at least one camera and a number of warning signs are up, Nestor says he feels a lot safer.

Nestor : I believe that video cameras and the signs thereof would make a huge difference -- an enormous difference -- incomparable, like I said, no one's going to commit a crime. If they see those signs they know they're capturable.

Police are monitoring those cameras around the clock. By month's end, five security cameras will be up and running in Mission Beach.
