The blockbuster exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls opened Friday at the San Diego Natural History Museum. The museum is billing it as the most comprehensive exhibition of the scrolls ever assembled.

The idea is that visitors will pay more attention to the artifacts than to the surroundings, as there is much information to absorb.
