Early California Presidential Primary

Audio

Aired 4/19/09

Tom Fudge: Next year, it looks like California will be a lot closer to the front of the line when it comes to voting for President. The Legislature has voted to move our Presidential primary from June of 2008 to February. The Governor is expected to sign the bill.

Most people agree this will make the Golden State, and it's huge block of voters, much more influential in the Presidential race. But that influence does come at a price of up to $80 million to pay for the special election. So far, lawmakers are a little vague on who's going to pick up the tab.

Guest:

  • John Myers , Sacramento bureau chief for KQED public radio and "The California Report."
