Audio : What do we want? Health care for all. When do we want it? Now!

Registered Nurse Alice Colocino flew in from Los Angeles for the rally, which was sponsored in part by the California Nurses Association. She was there to support a bill by Democratic Senator Sheila Kuehl to create a so-called “single-payer” health system, where everyone would be covered under a model similar to Medicare.

Colocino : Depending on what a patient's insurance is determines how long they can stay in the hospital if they're critically ill -- what type of aftercare they get -- what type of rehabilitation services they receive.

A similar bill by Kuehl was approved by the legislature last year but vetoed by the Governor. He has proposed his own health reform plan, which would require all Californians to purchase health insurance.
